Experience 5:
Happiness of Pursuit Seminar

Fall Semester 2025 I took the Pursuit of Happiness honors seminar. The structure of this course was inspired by the book Happiness of Pursuit: Finding the Quest That Will Bring Purpose to Your Life by Chris Guillebeau. Reading this book taught me the criteria for a quest, how to plan your quest, common motivations, and how to overcome challenges. Both the short-term and long-term quest I chose had to do with self improvement. I think it is important to prioritize and make time for yourself when on such a rigorous career path such as medicine. These quests and focusing on happiness will help improve my perseverance and make this long process more sustainable. The format of the class being a seminar also helped build community and connections. We discussed our experiences with each quest in class and used it as an opportunity to support each other, hold each other accountable, as well as give each other advice and feedback. I think this was a valuable class to take as a senior to prepare me to not only to accomplish my goals but also enjoy the journey and strive for happiness. I also learned life long skills that will help me overcome future challenges.
The presentation I attached below was my final reflective project for this course where I summarize the quests I completed and what they taught me. This presentation give good insight into what I have learned and how I have applied it to my life to improve myself and become happier and more resilient.
